Zach Monk

Zachary Monk will read for the MPhil in Christian Ethics at Christ Church. As an undergraduate he read History, Philosophy and Economics at the University of Auckland, where he completed research on equitable tax policy and received the Tony Cotton Prize and the Kelliher Economics scholarship.

Before Oxford, Zach worked as a management consultant and as Chief of Staff at a technology startup in New York City. His research will apply Augustine’s theology to contemporary questions in political economy, including the nature and function of risk and the impact of Christian eschatology on economic decision-making. Outside of academia, he is a keen swimmer and runner and is enjoying learning about wine. Zach is an alumnus of the Venn Fellowship ’22 and a Middle Reader at the Canterbury Institute.
